It has begun to seem to me that most times you approach either extreme of any phenomenon located on a continuum (I'm excluding actual binaries here...if such things exist) you also,
inevitably, begin to approach fantasy. Here, the notion of "national exceptionalism" might be thought of as one end of a continuum. Another observation is that anything that's
not a physical law of the universe (like gravity) having to do with living things seems to be, always?, grounded in history and context. If it isn't then it is what might be meant by
the word "magic" (i.e. existing outside of time and space). Hmmm...
