When I first found out about the remake, I was so excited (seriously I essentially screamed and scared the hell out of the guy I was dating).

I wanted to go back to Midgar, I started new playthroughs of the game in the hype of the announcement. Final Fantasy VII was my very first video game. While it wasn’t my favorite Final

Fantasy (That’s VIII) it was always very special for me.

When I started seeing news, I was skeptical of the types of changes. I understand they can’t make things the same, the battle changes were whatever, the idea of expanding Midgar was exciting

and seeing Aerith, Cloud, Biggs/Wedge, Tifa and Nanaki (I never liked calling him Red XIII) in these new graphics were enough for me to forget minor changes. The arbiters of fate were….

strange but I was willing to give it a shot. In the end I decided to wait until I saw how it went after coming out, I watched gameplays of it and reviews and while everyone seems to blindly

in love with this game.. I lost all my excitement for it.

Finding out that they are using this whole alternative timeline BS for a ‘remake’, Zack potentially being alive as well as Aerith’s complete OCC moments just ruined it for me. I feel like

Zack’s sacrifice now means so much less, the plate’s fall is the same.

Overall I feel like SE is just selling out a beloved game for some money because they wouldn’t get as much in sales if they put the effort toward a new Final Fantasy title, the story quality

has gone down since FFX (though that’s cus I’m not counting FFXIV’s Shadowbringers expansion as a title in it’s own. It’s really good so far). They want to cash in on the remake/remaster

wave and what better way to do that by remaking a game with their ‘new vision’ which is, let’s be honest, that ending is another KHIII but with Cloud and company instead of Sora.
