NICOLE’S STREAK: Continuing on a roll that began with her Golden Globe win last month, Nicole Kidman was named best actress at the British Academy of Film and Television Awards in London for
“The Hours.” Kidman, 35, remains an odds-on favorite to win the Oscar. Other major winners at the BAFTAs included Roman Polanski’s “The Pianist,” which scored best picture and director, and
Daniel Day-Lewis, named best actor for “Gangs of New York.” British oddsmakers then put Day-Lewis ahead of Jack Nicholson (“About Schmidt”) as the favorite to win the Oscar. GRAMMY’S GAL:
Newcomer Norah Jones, 23, upset music heavyweights Bruce Springsteen, Eminem and the Dixie Chicks to sweep the 45th annual Grammy Awards Sunday. She took home five trophies including album
of the year for her debut disc “Come Away with Me,” and record of the year and song of the year (to songwriter Jesse Harris) for “Don’t Know Why.” Jones also picked up honors for best new
artist, pop vocal album and best female pop vocal performance. All told, “Come Away with Me” won eight Grammys, including wins for producer of the year and engineering. J.LO M.O.: Jennifer
Lopez, 33, attempted to demystify herself on German TV and voiced her displeasure at having her private life made public — especially when the facts come out wrong — though she also admits
that she’s learned to laugh about it. She was serious, however, when she told TV host Thomas Gottschalk that, contrary to rumor, her gams and famous rear end are not protected financially.
“No, my legs are not insured,” Lopez said. And her butt? “No!” she replied emphatically. OZZY’S FORTUNE: Ozzy Osbourne, 54, and his manager wife, Sharon, 50, are at No. 3 in the income
league for British rock stars, according to England’s Heat magazine, whose analysts attribute the Osbournes’ bankroll to their sponsorship deals (including those Pepsi Twist ads), publishing
contracts, a video/DVD deal for their MTV show, “The Osbournes” and Ozzfest, their touring rock festival. Still, their earnings of $60 million last year were just a third of what No.
1-ranked Paul McCartney, 60, made in 2002: a staggering $180 million. The Rolling Stones were No. 2 on the list, with $112 million. ‘GREEK’ DELIGHT: CBS’s Monday night premiere of “My Big
Fat Greek Life” pulled in an impressive 22.9 million viewers — even topping the 22.2 million who watched its lead-in, the top-rated “Everybody Loves Raymond.” “Life,” starring Nia Vardalos,
40, is based on last year’s smash romantic comedy “My Big Fat Greek Wedding.” Critics, however, were less supportive than viewers when it came to the small-screen sitcom. Tom Shales of The
Washington Post found it shamelessly similar to “Everybody Loves Raymond” — just not as good.
