The News Minute| June 29, 2014| 1.20 pm ISTLt col Prasad Srikanth Purohit, once a top military intelligence undercover and an accused in the Malegaon 2008 blasts has written to Prime
Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Rajnath Singh, citing that he had been in jail for more than 5 years, but the case has not come up in the court for a hearing even once.In his
letter, Purohit alleges that the anti-Terrorsim squad of Maharashtra has fabricated the case against him, he adds that the ATS "created" terrorists out of "innocent,
patriotic" people for unknown reasons. Purohit is facing trial in the Malegaon blast case under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA). In May this year, Purohit lodged
in Taloja Jail in Navi Mumbai had applied for parole. On 29 September, 2008 a bomb blast took place in Malegaon, a communally sensitive area. Seven fatal casualties were reported as a result
of the blasts. Purohit says in his letter to the PM that during this time he was learning Arabic language, a course spanning one year and six months, Purohit says that he specially
requested in writing to his senior leaders that he wished to learn the course. Purohit adds that this was also because the "Intelligence" wing had asked him to do the course.
Purohit claims that even while learning the course, he was professionally active in the "Intelligence" departmentt. Purohit claims that on October 24th, 2008 one colonel RK
Srivastav was sent to Pachmorhi, where he facilitated Purohit's interaction with Maharashtra police's ATS cell. Purohit says that ever since Srivastav arrived he was treated like a
terrorist. He further claims that he was then illegally detained by Srivastav, meanwhile, his wife and mother kept thinking that he has gone to New Delhi. Purohit further alleges that this
act of "kidnapping, abduction" and illegal detainment has been proved by the statements of several witness in the case. Purohit in his letter has requested PM and Home Minister to
has asked them to summon NIA's records and other records of the case, which he believes will prove his claims.
