7 NewsThe West Australian Just days after announcing he’s turned over a new leaf, Melbourne’s ‘Trolley man’ is in trouble with the law again. Forty-six-year-old Michael Rogers is accused of
committing a burglary in East Melbourne on Wednesday. The alleged offences comes less than two weeks after Rogers was granted conditional bail in a Melbourne court, charged with stealing a
bike and breaking into a café to take cash. He allegedly committed those offences the day before he became a national hero by using a shopping trolley to try and take down a Bourke Street
terrorist, who had already killed a man and stabbed two others when confronted by police. Rogers became a viral sensation as footage of him repeatedly ramming the terrorist was shared
online. As a result of his efforts, the Australian community rallied around the homeless man, raising more than $150,000 for him. That money is now in a trust, controlled by a Melbourne
community organisation. Rogers appeared in the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Friday on the latest charges, including burglary, theft and committing an offence while on bail. Unlike his last
appearance where he was granted conditional bail, including being ordered out of the Melbourne CBD, Rogers has now been remanded in custody. He will appear in court again on December 17.
