Police were called to a unit on Simpson Street about 9.30pm Friday after receiving reports of a disturbance at the front of the complex. On arrival, police discovered the body of a
69-year-old woman. Police located a man believed to be related to the deceased near the crime scene. On Saturday morning, detectives from the Major Crime Squad arrived in Geraldton and were
treating the death as suspicious. On Saturday night, police revealed they had charged the 42-year-old with unlawful assault causing death and he would appear in the Geraldton Magistrate’s
Court after being refused bail. A police spokesman said the charges may be upgraded pending a post-mortem examination. Anyone with information or who saw or heard anything in the area
