The West Australian Could Fremantle be looking at ways to offload troubled star Harley Bennell? A report on AFL Trade Radio by journalist Sam McClure this morning suggests the Dockers could

be set to end their relationship with the former Gold Coast Sun despite signing him to a one-year extension in August. “They are trying to move him on from the club despite only weeks ago

handing Harley Bennell a one-year contract extension,” McClure said. “There’d have to be some sort of financial resolution if in fact they can’t find another club to trade for Harley

Bennell.” Bennell has played just two games in three seasons at the Dockers, with a string of calf setbacks hindering his progress. The 26-year-old has also been involved in multiple

off-field controversies during his 83-game career. Bennell did not attend the club’s Doig Medal presentation on Saturday night. In August’s re-signing press release, Bennell thanked Dockers

coach Ross Lyon for being “like a father figure for me since the day I got here”, while chief executive Steve Rosich praised the midfielder’s work ethic. “Despite going through some tough

periods with injury, Harley has continually kept his head up and worked extremely hard at getting back on the football field,” Rosich said at the time. “We’ve seen Harley play 10 games in

the WAFL this season and we have every hope he can return and play his best football in a Fremantle jumper.” The report comes amid what is set to be a big trade period for Fremantle, with
