_Editor’s note: an earlier version of this article, based on a news release from the California Department of Insurance, listed Audra Birndorf as among those charged. However, Ms. Birndorf
had been the victim of identity theft, and charges against her were ultimately dismissed._ Four San Diego County residents were charged with felony counts of insurance fraud for allegedly
receiving ill-gotten benefits through dozens of fraudulently submitted insurance documents, it was announced Wednesday. According to the California Department of Insurance, 63 fraudulent
claims documents were submitted for benefits for the long-term disability policy of the mother of defendants Tyler Andrew Liebowitz, 45, of San Diego, and Dean Craig Liebowitz, 52, of Del
Mar. The documents allegedly listed the defendants as the mother’s caregivers. However, the Department of Insurance says the defendants attempted to receive payments for times when no
caregiver was present. The defendants also allegedly made false statements about the amount of money paid to caregivers and the number of hours worked. All defendants were arrested and
arraigned in court this month. Outside of the Liebowitz brothers, charges were also filed against Ashlin Nerisa Prol, 37, of San Diego and Ali Jamal Ibrahim, 21, of San Diego. _Updated at
