Dr. Nichol Salvo is the podiatry section chief at the Atlanta VA Health Care System. Dr. Nichol Salvo is the podiatry section chief at the AVAHCS and the Deputy National Podiatric Medical
Director for Specialty Care Program Office. She directs the High-risk Eye & Limb Preservation Program (HELPP), which has been instrumental to maximize telehealth services for podiatry
and is an integral part of amputation prevention measures. Dr. Salvo was selected as the 2024 Innovation Ecosystem Senior Fellow for her work with HELPP and was awarded the Office of Rural
Health Enterprise Wide Initiative funding to deploy HELPP to rural sites. Dr. Salvo completed a Bachelor of Science degree in biology at Ashland University. She went on to earn her Doctor
of Podiatric Medicine degree from the Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine in 2004 and is a 2007 graduate of the AVAHCS residency program. She is double board-certified with
the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery (ABFAS) and the American Board of Podiatric Medicine (ABPM). She completed Leadership VA in 2023 and the Health Care Leadership Development
Program in 2024.
