PRESS RELEASE June 12, 2024 Augusta , GA — VA Augusta announced it will host a Women Veterans Coffee Social on Friday, June 14, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Sweetwater Community, 296
Sweetwater Road, North Augusta, SC 29860. VA Augusta women’s health professionals will join women Veterans to engage in peer-to-peer support, learn about women’s health services, and
celebrate Women Veterans Appreciation Day. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs announced this week that more than 53,000 women Veterans enrolled in VA health care nationwide over the
past year. This marks a 20% increase and the largest enrollment year for women Veterans on record. In Georgia, 2,937 women Veterans enrolled, marking a 16% increase this year. Women
Veterans make up VA Augusta’s fastest-growing patient population. VA Augusta has dramatically expanded health care services to include breast cancer screenings and mammograms, toxic exposure
screenings, and expanded maternity care coordination for Veterans from conception to 12 months post-partum. VA’s dedicated Women Veterans Call Center is here to support women Veterans in
