Music for Yom Kippur: Yo-Yo Ma Performs 'Kol Nidre' Published October 12, 2005 at 12:00 AM EDT Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Email
Wednesday night marks the beginning of Yom Kippur, one of the holiest days of the year in Judaism. The Yom Kippur service traditionally includes an ancient and mournful melody called the
"Kol Nidre," which is also the basis of a concert piece by composer Max Bruch. In a performance with the Baltimore Symphony, cellist Yo-Yo Ma plays Bruch's arrangement. Yuri Temirkanov
conducts.
