BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – There’s a four-way tie for first place in the Interstate 8 boys basketball standings after Tuesday’s games, and the Coldwater Cardinals are in the mix following
their 55-39 win at Harper Creek.
Coldwater led 15-9 after the first quarter and 31-20 at halftime as they held the Beavers to 26% field goal shooting on the night.
Zach Coffing led a balanced scoring attack with 10 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 steals. Donte Work, Niko Downs, and Gavin Taylor each scored 9. Work added 10 rebounds and 2 steals, Downs had 4
boards and 2 blocks, and Taylor pulled down 2 rebounds.
With their fourth straight win, the Cardinals improved to 5-5 overall, 4-2 in the Interstate 8. They share the league lead with Jackson Northwest, Marshall, and Jackson Lumen Christi, who
the Cards will visit Friday night.

Coldwater lost the JV game 63-39. Jackson Reilly led Coldwater with eight points and eight rebounds. Austin Downs had seven points and five steals.
Coldwater also lost the freshman contest 59-35. Owen Tappenden had 14 points and 10 rebounds. Liam Clark grabbed 9 rebounds.
In one other Branch County boys basketball game on Tuesday night, Union City romped to a 72-19 non-conference win over Athens.
Three players finished in double figures for the Chargers led by Alex Hull with 12 points. Riley Laird added 11 points while Landon Galvin had 10 points. Union City is now 5-5.
