FRANCE REMAINS ONE OF EUROPE'S CHEAPEST COUNTRIES FOR POWER PRICES ELECTRICITY prices will rise from August 15 by an average of 3.4% The price rises apply to government-fixed tariffs.


The _tarifs bleus_ (householders) will rise 3%, the _tarifs bleus pros_ (professionals) up 4%, _tarifs jaunes_ (small to medium businesses) up 4.5% and _tarifs verts_ (large businesses) up


5.5%, the economy ministry has announced. Previous rises were 2.3% in August 2009 and 2% in 2008 and come on top of several large rises in the price of gas. According to European statistics
